I consider this recipe my 'party trick'. It is super easy, super fast and super foolproof. Whenever we have new guests over for dinner, I would undoubtedly resort to this recipe for peace of mind of how the food will turn out.

The first thing to note is how easy this marinade is to make. I use this marinade on salmon and chicken (thighs, drumsticks etc.) and it is our family staple for quick easy dinners.

When we cook it using salmon, we tend to use the salmon as a recipe in our summer rolls. The leftover marinade is then used as the sauce that we dip our rolls in. Try it, you won't regret it! :)

Original recipe makes 6 servings

The Marinade:

  1. 1/3 cup soy sauce

  2. 1/3 cup brown sugar

  3. 1/3 cup water

  4. 1/4 cup oil (we use grapeseed or extra virgin olive oil)

  5. lemon pepper to taste

  6. garlic powder to taste (this is actually optional)

  7. salt to taste

  1. Season your meat of choice with lemon pepper, garlic powder, and salt.

  2. In a small bowl, stir together soy sauce, brown sugar, water, and oil until sugar is dissolved. Place meat in a large resealable plastic bag with the sweet + soy sauce mixture, seal, and turn to coat. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. *** If you don't have time, you can just put it straight into the oven!***

  3. Preheat oven on Bake at 400 degrees fahrenheit

  4. Put your meat in an oven-proof dish and put in the oven.

*** For salmon, I normally bake for 20 minutes, then remove from oven and pour out the marinade (to use as dipping sauce). I then put the fish back in the oven on Broil (high) for 4 to 5 minutes.

*** For chicken, I normally just turn the oven on at 400 degrees fahrenheit and bake it for 45 minutes.
